Why the same food plan cannot fit every condition.

General healthy-eating advice is a starting point. Illness, treatment, appetite and personal circumstances can change the priorities.

Start with ordinary food and individual needs.

Variety, enough nourishment and sensible portions matter, but the exact plan also depends on age, activity, preferences, access and current care. A restrictive plan is not automatically a better plan.

Kidney care needs context.

Nutrition requirements can change with kidney function, laboratory results and dialysis. Protein, fluid and mineral advice should follow the renal team’s plan; there is no single diet for every stage.

Cancer care may change the goal.

Treatment can make eating difficult. Maintaining intake, managing eating problems and coordinating with the oncology team can be more relevant than generic weight-loss advice. Ask for suitable nutrition support if appetite or weight is changing.

Bring all instructions together.

When several conditions overlap, ask the responsible professionals to reconcile conflicting advice. Do not independently stop medicines, exclude entire food groups or add supplements because of a general article.
